Winter Hiking in Beskidy

Winter Hiking in Beskidy Mountains

As the winter in the mountains has begun it was a high time to do some proper winter hiking. It was a first trip in the snow this year and despite some plan changes it turned amazing.

I had two routes planned: plan A and plan B route.

Plan A was to hike a very picturesque ridge trail stretching across 16km. Plan B (~8km) was created in case anything happens and I needed to change. As it happened I had to abandon my original plan A and move forward with plan B.

Weather was good- very sunny but with strong, cold winds. The trail however was not well maintained and I had to use my map and compass couple of times to find my way as the markings and the trail itself were covered by deep snow. In such situation you realise how important is to know what to think about when hiking in winter. Due to that my pace was quite slow and I realised at that speed I won't make it down before sundown if I follow my original plan. I moved to plan B and it was a very good decision. It started getting dark when I finished my hike.

Despite the change of plans it was an awesome hike! Go through the images and enjoy the amazing, winter atmosphere.
